dollars in gross sales. The MAIOF Metal Processing Initiative als includes related industries to Metal Casting including metal forging, powder metalurgy, finishers, platers, heat treaters and fabricators. These ancillary industries raise the labor and gross revenues of the whole sector by a factor of 5.

The main challenges of the industry, reflected in the National Roadmap include: products and market, materials technology, manufacturing technology and environmental technologies. The Office of Industrial Technologies utilized nearly 6 million dollars in 2000 to fund technology partnerships, educational programs, showcases, and technology outreach and technology transfer.
